Environmental cues are a part of every aspect of one's life. They can affect the environment negatively or positively. For example, walking past a shop window can be an environmental cue that conveys a message that affects the environment negatively. There is currently a war being raged about secondhand smoke and the effect it has on smokers as well as non-smokers. However, if a shop owner is advertising beautiful people smoking , it may send the message that cigarettes are not dangerous to ones's health and cause him to ignore the health risks and warnings that cigarettes may cause cancer.
How are you affecting the environment?
Remember environmental cues are a part of every aspect of one's life. Let's say you are a nutritionist. What kind of message are you conveying when you eat a greasy hamburger in front of a client, while at the same time telling him that he needs to cut out red meat because it's not good for his digestive system. He's not going to take you serious, eat a burger or some other red meat, and be in need of surgery for an intestinal bypass. His life is at risk.
Do you represent God?
Let's say you go to a neighborhood church. People see you come and go. They are watching maybe trying to decide whether or not they want to come to Christ and be a part of the Christian Faith. But when you come out of the church and curse your brother or sister in Christ, and a full fight fist to cuff breaks out. Why would the spectator ever want to become a participator? There is currently a war being raged over man's soul. His life is at risk because he will never understand, or heed the warnings that the wages of sin is death. (Romans 6:23). He has no desire to conform to God's will. We are of no benefit to the kingdom when we affect the environment negatively.
"When you were slaves of sin, you were free in regard to righteousness, you had no desire to conform to God’s will. So what benefit did you get at that time from the things of which you are now ashamed? None! For the outcome of those things is death! But now since you have been set free from sin and have become willing slaves to God, you have your benefit, resulting in sanctification being made holy and set apart for God’s purpose, and the outcome of this is eternal life. For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God that is, His remarkable, overwhelming gift of grace to believers is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord (Romans 6:20-23). For we are His workmanship. His own master work, a work of art, created in Christ Jesus. Reborn from above--spiritually transformed, renewed, ready to be used for good works, which God prepared for us beforehand. Taking paths which He set, so that we would walk in them living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us (Ephesians 2:10).
Be Positive Affecters Of The Environment.
