Put Off The Old

If you are a believer, you no longer do the things you used to. That is, you put off the old. To put off is to rid oneself of something. It is to turn away from;repent.

Mortify Your Members

"For if we have been planted together in the likeness of His (Jesus) death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection: Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. (Romans 6:5-6). Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry: For which things' sake the wrath of God come on the children of disobedience: In the which ye also walked some time, when ye lived in them [before coming to Christ] (Colossians 3:5-7). What fruit had ye then in those things whereof ye are now ashamed? for the end of those things is death [spiritual death] (Romans 6:21). But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth (Colossians 3:8)

You Have Risen With Christ

"If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sits on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with Him in glory

(Colossians 3:1-4)
