The wilderness is an uncultivated, uninhabited, and inhospitable region. That is, nothing can grow there, its unfit for living, and has a foreshadow of evil. The wilderness is a cheerless, hostile place - as if through separation from a loved one. Yet, we, at times, find ourselves tempted to go there, and that of our own volition.
"Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am being tempted by God” [for temptation does not originate from God, but from our own flaws]; for God cannot be tempted by [what is] evil, and He Himself tempts no one. But each one is tempted when he is dragged away, enticed and baited [to commit sin] by his own [worldly] desire (lust, passion) (James 1:13-14). There is only one solution in defeating temptation. Obey God!
Avoid Tempting Situations
You know what tempts you, and so does the tempter [Satan]. Do everything in your power to avoid situations that could force you to divide your loyalty to God. "Run [keep far, far away] from [any sort of] idolatry [and that includes loving anything more than God, or participating in anything that leads to sin and enslaves the soul] (1 Corinthians 10:14). "Do not enter the path of the wicked, And do not go the way of evil men. Avoid it, do not travel on it;Turn away from it and pass on (Proverbs 4:14-15).
