The truth is in accord with fact or reality; something you can prove. A lie is a false, and deliberate, attempt to deceive; something portrayed, and intended, to convey a false impression. It is in man's nature to lie (Genesis 3). Thankfully, the truth is in the Word of God. Jesus is the Word (John 1:1-4). Everything man needs to know is in the Word; Christ Jesus, who never changes (Hebrews 13:8). The Bible tells us to believe and continue in God's Word [Jesus] in order to know the truth that will set us free (John 8:30-32).

"Examine and test and evaluate your own selves to see whether you are holding to your faith and showing the proper fruits of it. Test and prove yourselves [not Christ]. Do you not yourselves realize and know [thoroughly by an ever-increasing experience] that Jesus Christ is in you–unless you are [counterfeits] disapproved on trial and rejected? (2 Corinthians 13:5). Do not be deceived and deluded and misled; God will not allow Himself to be sneered at (scorned, disdained, or mocked by mere pretensions or professions, or by His precepts being set aside.) [Man inevitably deludes himself when he attempts to delude God.] For whatever a man sows, that and that only is what he will reap (Galatians 6:7).
