"So, if I, the Lord and the Teacher, washed your feet, you ought to wash one another’s feet as well. For I gave you [this as] an example, so that you should do [in turn] as I did to you (John 13:14-15). I am giving you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, so you too are to love one another. By this everyone will know that you are My disciples, if you have love and unselfish concern for one another.” (John 13:34-35).
Jesus gave us an example of the principle of serving. If we are to be like Him, He must forever increase in our hearts and our own worldly ways ever decrease. In order for us to serve one another, we must love each other as ourselves. We are all made in His image so to love one another is to love Him. By doing so we will be recognized as disciples of Christ Jesus.
