It's Not Always About the Way We Talk, But the Way We Walk

Updated: Oct 18

"Blessed are those whose ways are blameless, who walk according to the law of the Lord. Blessed are those who keep his statutes and seek him with all their heart—

they do no wrong but follow his ways. You have laid down precepts that are to be fully obeyed. Oh, that my ways were steadfast in obeying your decrees! Then I would not be put to shame when I consider all your commands. I will praise you with an upright heart as I learn your righteous laws. I will obey your decrees; do not utterly forsake me. (Psalm 119:1-8 NIV)

Hide God's Word in You Heart

"I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you. (Psalm 119:11 NIV) Great start! However, don't just hide His Word, meditate on it, apply it and walk in it. To apply and walk in God's Word is to obey it in order we be turned away from selfish gain and instead be guided in His Way, truth, and life (John 14:6)

Only God's Word in Our Hearts can Change Our Walk

It's not about how good of an orator we are or how well we write, people will study our actions, our walk. God's transforming Word in our hearts and His holy Spirit within will give us the power and strength needed in order we not sin against Him. No, we won't be perfect, but in Christ Jesus we are made whole (Colossians 2:10). God equips us with everything good for doing His will and what is pleasing to Him (Hebrews 13:21). "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. (John 3:16-17 KJV) To be dedicated to God's Word is my prayer.

Prayer

"Teach me, Lord, the way of your decrees, that I may follow it to the end. Give me understanding, so that I may keep your law and obey it with all my heart. Direct me in the path of your commands, for there I find delight. Turn my heart toward your statutes and not toward selfish gain. Turn my eyes away from worthless things; preserve my life according to your word. (Psalm 119:33-37 NIV) Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path. I have taken an oath and confirmed it, that I will follow your righteous laws. (Psalm 119:105-106)
