"The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness For His name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; My cup runs over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me All the days of my life; And I will dwell in the house of the Lord Forever (Psalm 23).
Jesus is the true Good, Great, and Chief Shepherd (John 10:11, Hebrews 13:20, 1 Peter 5:4). We (believers) are His sheep. Sheep know and depend on the shepherd for provision, guidance, and protection and will not follow another's voice (John 10:27,28). There is a peace and strength that comes with following Jesus (Philippians 4:7, Isaiah 40:31). In Jesus we can take comfort in knowing that we never have to fear death because He has conquered death (Acts 2:24, Revelation 1:18). We need not fear our enemies either because God's anointing will protect us (Isaiah 10:27). We will dwell with the Lord our God forever. Jesus will bring us into His house, which He has prepared for us (John 14:2).
Trust God
"All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all (Isaiah 53:6). Wander no more. Only the love of God can save us. "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved (John 3:16-17).
Seek the Lord while He may be Found (Isaiah 55:6)
